the roadrunner project

I am the self appointed expert on the state bird, having kept a journal on the pair that have lived in my yard for the last 4 years (they have claimed our land since before we lived here) and I have taken over 17,000 images of the birds. The photos you see are real, not photoshopped. The Roadrunner Project signature bird (see home page) is "big guy" - the senior male bird on the property.

I currently tour the state presenting a program on roadrunners with narration and images. I am listed as a presenter with the State of New Mexico Library system and I am available for large group presentations.

People have asked me about my motivation for choosing this subject and making the dedication to study a bird for the last 4 years. Losing a parent caused me to look "right now" for time is fleeting.

As my dear friend Anna says about The Roadrunner Project, "you didn't choose the birds, the birds chose you to tell their story."

Education is a part of this project and I have made myself available to schools, libraries and any area where there are people who want to learn more about this wonderful and stately bird of ours.

I feel blessed to live in New Mexico and the roadrunner is a part of my connection to this land.
